Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14 70 years ago) was an American actor and writer. The two-time Golden Globe Award winning star became a household name for her performances as Barbara on CBS's One Day at a Time and Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland. The actress began acting when she was young teens and later on over the years evolved into an experienced character actor. She was able to instil a passion in the world of entertainment, the Bertinelli decided to go into acting after an acquaintance she made while she was an infant. Bertinelli entered the television industry in her teens after she graduated from the Tami Lynn School of Artists. She quickly became popular for her grace, acting ability and a confident demeanor. In addition to her tumultuous private life the battle with addiction, and the hard work to regain her life, made her a popular TV personality. The public is familiar with her people through the publication of her New York Times best-selling books that chronicle her experiences during difficult times in her life.
